Following on from a number of successful NSR Interreg IVB projects the “TEN‐T and the North Sea Region” project will analyse opportunities and consequences for transport of the new European TEN‐T Guidelines, the Connecting Europe Facility, the Clean Power for Transport Initiative and the Europe2020 Strategy. This will be done from a North Sea Region perspective focused on outputs at the regional level. By identifying possible impacts of the various initiatives, a toolbox of regional measures will be developed to help optimise the regional impact on TEN-T and freight transport development. The toolbox measures will be illustrated with a number of selected case studies that further promote the findings of existing North Sea Region projects and focus on regional opportunities and involvement in TEN-T deployment.
- TEN-TaNS will provide recommendations on effective future actions (illustrated with case studies) for the development and implementation of the TEN‐T core and comprehensive network in the North Sea Region with a focus on freight transport. Through the objective of making the impacts of these developments clearly communicable the project will ensure that the North Sea region is well‐positioned to respond to the main requirements of the various EU transport policies and initiatives. The toolbox will focus on regional opportunities and their involvement in TEN-T deployment.
- TEN-TaNS will highlight areas where regional and local authorities from the North Sea Region can contribute to the completion of the TEN-T network by 2030 or 2050 respectively. Regional cases studies will be developed to communicate opportunities and perspectives for the regional level.
- The project will also make suggestions for areas of intervention in the imminent Interreg VB North Sea Region Programme, indicating what TEN-T related actions for transport infrastructure and services could benefit from Interreg support.
- The outcomes of this project will ensure that the North Sea Region is well-positioned to respond to the requirements of the future TEN-T network.
